The route is ideal for trekkers seeking a moderate, well-paced trek with comfortable daily walking hours, cultural immersion, and rewarding viewpoints, all without venturing too deep into high altitude terrain.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

From Phedi, the trek starts with a well-paved stone staircase ascending through lush forests and traditional farmland. The climb is steady yet rewarding, passing through small villages, tiny tea shops, and terraced fields of millet and seasonal vegetables. As you rise higher, the air becomes cooler and the views of the Annapurna range begin to open up.

After a few hours, you reach Dhampus, a traditional Gurung village perched on a ridge with panoramic views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Lamjung Himal. Dhampus is famous for its stone houses, cultural charm, and peaceful atmosphere. In the evening, explore the village streets, interact with the friendly Gurung community, visit the local monasteries, or simply relax with the sunset glowing over the Himalayan peaks.

Day 2

Start your morning with a breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayan skyline. After breakfast, the trek from Dhampus to Australian Camp begins with gentle pathways passing through open meadows and terraced farmlands. Soon, you enter a serene dense forest of rhododendron, oak, and pine, where the sounds of nature take over—birds chirping, rustling leaves, and the distant murmur of streams.

This forested stretch is refreshing and peaceful, offering occasional clearings where you can enjoy views of the valley below and the white peaks above. During spring, the trail becomes a colorful corridor of blooming rhododendrons.

Arriving at Australian Camp Your journey begins with a scenic one-hour drive from Pokhara to Phedi, a peaceful settlement surrounded by terraced fields and green hills. The drive offers beautiful views of rural life—children walking to school, farmers working in rice terraces, and the distant white peaks occasionally appearing above the hills.

(2232m), you step into one of the most stunning hilltop viewpoints in the region. The camp sits on an open grassy ridge surrounded by forest, offering unobstructed views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and the majestic Machhapuchhre. The peaceful surroundings and refreshing mountain air make this a perfect place to unwind.

In the evening, explore the ridge, enjoy a hot cup of tea, and watch the sunset paint the Himalayas in vibrant shades of pink, orange, and red.

Day 3

After breakfast, you begin the descent from Australian Camp toward Landruk, one of the loveliest villages in the Annapurna region. The trail passes through beautiful forested sections filled with oak, rhododendron, and evergreen trees. This stretch is rich in wildlife, with opportunities to spot Himalayan birds such as magpies, bulbuls, minivets, and occasionally langur monkeys moving through the treetops.

As you walk, the trail winds gently up and down through quiet forest paths, offering spectacular glimpses of the valley below, the flowing Modi Khola river, and the terraced farmlands carved into the hillsides. The peaceful environment, combined with the natural scent of forest vegetation, makes this one of the most relaxing trekking days.

Eventually, the forest opens up to the terraced farming fields of Landruk, a traditional Gurung and Magar settlement known for its charming stone houses, warm hospitality, and amazing views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The village offers a rich cultural experience—women weaving baskets, farmers tending crops, and the soft sounds of livestock echoing through the hills. Spend time exploring the village lanes or relaxing in a tea house overlooking the valley.
