Package OverviewThe Tilicho Lake Trek – 8 Days is a spectacular Himalayan journey that takes you deep into the Annapurna region, combining dramatic mountain landscapes, high-altitude adventure, and rich cultural encounters. This trek leads to Tilicho Lake (4,919 m)—one of the highest lakes in the world, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists and surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks.
Starting from Kathmandu, the journey follows the scenic Marsyangdi Valley to Manang, a culturally rich Himalayan town known for its monasteries, glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery. The trek gradually ascends through traditional villages like Khangsar and Shree Kharka, crossing rugged high-mountain terrain before reaching Tilicho Base Camp.
The highlight of the trek is the early morning hike to Tilicho Lake, where turquoise waters reflect the icy walls of Tilicho Peak (7,134 m)—a moment of pure Himalayan magic. After reaching this sacred alpine lake, the trail descends back through Manang and returns to the lowlands via Besisahar. This trek is ideal for adventurous trekkers seeking a less-crowded, high-altitude Himalayan experience within a short timeframe.

After crossing Mugling, the route veers north toward Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region.
As you approach Besisahar, the terrain shifts dramatically — river valleys deepen, cliffs rise, and waterfalls tumble down the mountainsides. You’ll arrive by late afternoon, giving you time to stretch your legs and enjoy the subtropical warmth before heading higher into the Himalayas.

Visit the Waterfalls, Apple Farm, and Lakes en route
After an early breakfast, set out from Besisahar on a thrilling off-road adventure into the heart of the Marsyangdi Valley. Leaving behind the paved highway, the 4WD trail winds through terraced fields, pine forests, and steep river gorges, following the turquoise flow of the Marsyangdi River as the landscape grows wilder with every turn.
The first part of the journey features some of the region’s most captivating waterfalls, each offering a refreshing stop and a perfect photo opportunity:
From here, continue your gradual ascent to Chame (2,670 m), the district headquarters of Manang, set amid towering pines and dominated by the icy flanks of Annapurna II. Just beyond the village lies the beautiful Bhratang Apple Farm, a lush orchard surrounded by high peaks and crisp mountain air. Visitors can also stroll among the trees, taste freshly picked apples, or sample locally made products such as cider, jam, and dried apple slices — a refreshing cultural and culinary highlight of the journey.
After a short break, the trail climbs gently toward Pisang, revealing spectacular panoramas of Annapurna II, III, IV, and Lamjung Himal. A scenic detour leads to two pristine alpine lakes — Green Lake and Blue Lake — small glacial jewels named for the vivid hues created by mineral sediments and the reflection of snow-capped peaks. Their serene, mirror-like surfaces make them ideal spots for quiet moments and photography.
By late afternoon, continue through Humde and Braga to reach Manang (3,540 m) — a timeless Himalayan settlement nestled beneath Gangapurna Glacier and Tilicho Peak. Spend the evening exploring Gangapurna Lake and Braga Monastery, or relax in a cozy teahouse, taking in the crisp mountain air as you prepare for the trekking days ahead.

After breakfast, your trek begins on a gradual uphill trail leading out of Manang, following a path above the Marsyangdi River. The terrain transitions from cultivated fields to rocky alpine slopes dotted with juniper and wild herbs.
You’ll pass ancient mani walls (Buddhist stone carvings) and small chortens. As you reach Khangsar Village (3,734 m) — often called “The Last Village of Nepal” on this side of the range — you’ll be greeted by traditional stone houses, fluttering prayer flags, and locals engaged in mountain farming.
After lunch in Khangsar, the trail continues with a gentle climb toward Shree Kharka (4,050 m). The path offers wide views of the Gangapurna Glacier and Tilicho Peak towering ahead. The air is crisp and cool, signaling that you’ve entered the true Himalayan zone.
